IT consumerization does take some control out of administrators' hands, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Employees turn to mobile devices and cloud services partly because they're easier and more convenient to use than traditional enterprise software. On the occasions users do need help, they're more likely to ask their colleagues -- freeing up IT for more strategic projects. And if they use their smartphones and tablets for a mix of personal and business tasks, they'll have incentive to pay attention to security. They may not care if they lose that TPS report, but they'll be damned if they lose their kids' birthday party photos.
