Mobile enterprise application platform: Bringing corporate apps to life

A mobile enterprise application platform (MEAP) is an environment for software developers that has tools and middleware for developing, testing, delivering and managing business apps for mobile devices. A mobile enterprise application platform usually has two features: a mobile app development environment with back-end Web services that link apps to corporate systems, and some kind of central management tool that admins can use to control which users and systems can access which apps.

Organizations often use MEAPs in conjunction with mobile device management products so admins can maintain control over devices and applications.
