Microsoft ad goes viral for all the wrong reasons

One of the great things about mobility is that employees can get work done whenever from wherever they are. But just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do it.

A Microsoft infographic that missed that point is heating up the interwebs this week. The infographic shares stats on how frequently U.S. employees work outside of the office — on vacation, at their kids’ soccer games, even in the bathroom — and implies that Microsoft’s Office 365 can help more employees do the same. As if staying chained to your job 24/7 were a good thing! (Spoiler alert: It’s not.)

The infographic, which Microsoft seems to have removed from its website in light of the backlash, is actually from 2013. It’s gone viral thanks to a Washington Post blog today and this tweet last week:
