Choosing between different security options for wireless networks

With all the emerging security options for wireless networks such as Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), 802.11i, and 802.1x, how do I go about selecting the right one for my wireless network?
That really depends on several factors such as the types of risks that are present in your wireless network setup, the product features built into the wireless systems you own, and the amount of money and effort you're willing to put forth. You might be surprised that some basic security such as disabling SSID broadcasts, changing default access point configuration settings, and using the basic WPA features in your wireless products may be all you need without having to spend money and hire expertise to deploy the fancier authentication and security features being touted as bleeding edge must-haves.
