When oh when will mobile security get the enhancements that it sorely needs? Well, the answer is, enhancements will come when the new standard for security, 802.11i, is finally available in new devices from wireless-device vendors. And when will that be?

Read this entire tip, which was submitted by SearchMobileComputing.com expert Tim Scannell in answer to just that question. Then realize that the IEEE task group finalizing the standard held what it was calling an ad hoc meeting was held on June 24 - 26. The standard is very near completion, and completion is required so products will comply with the standard, not manufacturers' interpretations of the standard.
