Our second place award winner, the Trend Micro Mobile Security application, won over our judges with its PC-level security for mobile devices.

It was designed to protect smartphones from malware the same way that antivirus programs protect PCs from viruses while preserving user productivity. One judge called it a "great product for mobile device users," impressed by its ability to keep mobile devices safe from viruses and text message spam. Trend Micro also pointed out that its Mobile Security application could help ensure productivity for enterprise mobile and handheld users.

Trend Micro Mobile Security is a performance whiz, with a small pattern file that minimizes download times, while being constantly updated to block both existing and emerging mobile threats. It protects against Bluestab attacks over Bluetooth and can protect against WAP push attacks.

Although ithe product scored high in performance, the judges were less impressed by its functionality. Trend Micro Mobile Security supports Symbian/Series 60, Symbian/UIQ, Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for Smartphone and Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for PocketPC Phone Edition. The application is available for $24.95.
