BRONZE AWARD: Sony Ericsson P910a
Sony Ericsson's P910a got high marks across the board for our Mobile Products of the Year 2005, but it performed strongest in the areas of ease of use and functionality.
Sony's mobile device, which received the honor of our bronze award, offers voice capabilities, e-mail, a personal information management suite (calendar, contacts and notes and it can sync with Microsoft Outlook), camera with video, and multimedia messaging.
The P910a can run a variety of applications, such as those that provide traffic pattern updates, calculate currency, check weather, provide news updates, provide stock updates and trades, and print pictures. On the lighter side, Sony Ericsson's P910a also includes non-business features such as an MP3 player and games.
The 5-ounce P910a smartphone's compact design comes complete with a digital and video VGA camera, keyboard inside the flip, and a 262K color screen. The device also offers a flip QWERTY keyboard for thumb typing, or users can rely on the device's handwriting recognition and T9 predictive text for inputting information, extracting information, and accessing the device's various functions.
The P910a is Bluetooth-enabled and also supports several push e-mail solutions offered by network operators or service providers. E-mails messages -- even those with attachments -- that are sent to this phone do not need to be actively downloaded from a server. The device's internal memory is 64 MB, and a 32-MB Memory Stick Duo is included.
