Linksys Network Everywhere Cable/DSL 4-port router For anyone who's not technically inclined, setting up a home network to share a high-speed Internet connection can be a daunting prospect. The road may be long and hard, filled with configuration details and lots of "page not found" errors. Fortunately, the Linksys Network Everywhere router offers an easy solution. It anticipates the usual bumps along the road to home-office networking paradise by offering an easy-to-use Setup Wizard. You almost don't need to configure it, and it's compatible with nearly any brand of network card.

I used this router for eight months with an MSN/Qwest DSL connection, and it performed smoothly the whole time. Installation was easy, and the router caused no problems with any of the four computers on the network. I was able to use my VPN connection, and the router never dropped a connection and never interfered with any kind of settings or various types of Internet activity.

All your PCs can share one IP address through the router, and the router also works as a DHCP server, assigning internal IP addresses to your PCs. There's almost nothing bad to say about this router, except that it can get pretty warm when running for a while.

The one complaint I did have about this specific model is that now, after having tested a D-link wireless router, I can't imagine going back to using a non-wireless router. For that, I rate this product Pretty Neat rather than Must Have. If you're trying to connect computers in multiple rooms, wireless is surely the way to go. If your computers are right next to one another, the cables may not be a big deal and this router offers you great bang for the buck.
