Many IT departments have shied away from supporting Android in the enterprise because the open source nature of the mobile operating system allows anyone to make changes, leaving the door open for malicious applications and other risks.

But Android is extremely popular in the consumer market, so it's inevitable that Google's OS will enter the workplace. Fortunately, the company's Android for Work service creates a distinct profile that separates work data from personal data on users' devices, allowing IT to better manage and secure Android in the enterprise.
