Palm recently released a software update intended for the unlocked and unbranded version of the Treo 680. The unlocked version of the Treo 680 has received a system software update from Palm, Inc. to bring it in line with the other versions of this smartphone.

The version 1.12 update for the Palm Treo 680 includes the following:

  • SDHC memory card support -- Up to 4 GB memory cards
  • Power saving enhancements
  • MP3 ringtone support
  • Microsoft Exchange/Direct Push enhancements
  • and the inclusion of the previous updates: Treo 680 Camera Update (January 2007), Treo 680 Security Patch (May 2007), and Treo 680 Unlocked GSM smartphone SMS Update (July 2007)

Performing the update
The update takes about 30 minutes. Two methods can be done: a Windows Installer or the SD card method.

This update is only for the unlocked Palm Treo 680. It is not for AT&T branded devices, but a version for this model was released in December.

For more information, and to download and install this update, visit the Palm Treo 680 v1.12 Update web site.

Note: Rogers's branded smartphones have also been included in the v1.12 update. Visit the specific Roger's update page for downloading and installing this update.
