The iPhone 5 is the sixth version of Apple's touch-based smartphone.

The Apple iPhone 5, which was released in September 2012, features a taller screen than its predecessors, measuring four inches diagonally with a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and 1136 by 640 resolution. It runs on Apple's A6 processor and includes a specially designed nano-SIM card, plus a new connector that is not compatible with plugs and accessories for the iPad, iPod or previous iPhones. The iPhone 5 is also the first iPhone to support LTE networks and the 5 GHz wireless band. Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint support the iPhone 5 in the United States. It is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, which were priced at the time of release at $199, $299 and $399, respectively.

The iPhone 5 shipped with iOS 6, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system. New features in iOS 6 include a native maps application and Passbook, a new app that stores digital credit cards, boarding passes and other information people would typically carry in their wallet or purse.
