The app moves beyond BlackBerry Messenger’s core text chat capabilities, offering voice calling over data and Wi-Fi networks, social networking capabilities and file- and location-sharing. The social networking feature, which is called BBM Channels, lets BBM 2.0 users chat with others with similar interests on pages devoted to specific products or activities. The file-sharing feature integrates with Dropbox, allowing users to upload and download files to and from the cloud. (Users can also share files stored directly on their devices.)
