Is there a WLAN software package that forces attaching wireless devices to have specified updates/patches installed before they are allowed to connect to the network? Does it push the updates?

I'm not aware of any such software or devices that can do this -- that's not to say they don't exist. If they were to exist, I'd keep my eyes on the higher-end WLAN security appliances from AirDefense, BlueSocket, etc. to be able to do this. I would suggest just looking at basic patch management utilities that can push out patches as soon as a host attaches to the network. I've had good luck and heard good things about the following applications:
- Patch Manager from BigFix
- SysUpdate from SecurityProfiling
- Ecora Patch Manager from Ecora
- HFNetChk Pro from Shavlik Technologies
