Effective security for Dell Inspiron with 802.11g

I have a new Dell Inspiron with 802.11g built in, and a Dell 2300 wireless router. I am concerned that I do not have effective security. What suggestions can you give me?

I would suggest at a minimum enabling WEP, disabling SSID broadcasts, changing the default SSID and router password, and even enabling WPA. Also, install personal firewall software such as BlackICE on the workstation as well.
